Founded in 1899

The Establishment year

The Shintendo Yamada Pharmacy was born with a capital of 3,000 Yen, introducing Ikatsu a medicine to treat stomach pain.

The Rohto eye drops brand first appeared on the market.

Renaming

Yamada Pharmaceutical was renamed Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. with an investment of 10 million yen, chaired by Kiro Yamada.

US Market

Obtain control over Mentholatum, Inc. (THE USA). 

100 years of Company

Celebrating 100 years of establishment.

Ueno Technical Center was born and started operating eye drops production, research and development centers, logistics centers.

Inaugurating and putting into operation Rohto-Mentholatum (Vietnam) factory in VSIP industrial park (Binh Duong) – the first pharmaceutical factory in Vietnam to meet GMP standard. The company started to produce V. Rohto, LipIce and Deep Heat products for Vietnam market, and also exported to Japan market.

Mentholatum, Inc. (USA) successfully bought the Oxy brand, a product line for treating oily gland inflammation on the skin.
